“I didn’t expect the personal attention that my Dad receives from the staff at Lakeshore Place. They’ve become part of our family.”
~ Brian, son of Lakeshore Place Resident
About us
The Kornell family has been caring for seniors and others in the community since the 1950s, when Joseph Kornell (Kornalewski), a Baptist minister and his wife Adele, started taking people who were leaving the hospital into their home. From there, the compassion, quality care and number of beds needed just kept growing.
Soon, the Kornells built a 14-bed facility on Pandosy, followed by Still Waters Private Hospital
in 1962 and the Joseph Benjamin Residence in 1968 (named for Joseph Kornell). Later, the family built and operated the Westside Care Centre in Westbank and Sun Pointe Village in Rutland, properties they later sold.
Lakeshore Place
In 1988, the Kornell family built Lakeshore Place to provide a warm and caring home for active seniors. The family’s impeccably high standards of care, pride of ownership and commitment to giving residents an active voice in shaping the facility, creates a genuine sense of home at Lakeshore Place. It also attracts and retains the highest caliber staff, men and women who truly care about the well being of the residents, and their families.
Beginning in early 2022, Cogir will be managing Lakeshore Place. Cogir, a leader in the Canadian retirement home industry, intends to maintain the quality and excellence that have been the residence’s hallmark. The company’s goal is to continue the legacy of the Kornell family and to ensure that the residents experience the enjoyable retirement of their dreams.
